Can’t wait to arrive! How do I get to Madarao?
Getting to Yamadasan Ski Lodge Madarao is painless with the Bullet train or Shinkansen arriving in Iiyama City Station from Tokyo in 110 minutes this is not only a great way to travel to Madarao but a real experience.
Departing Tokyo station to Iiyama station via Uneno passengers can board the “Hakutaka” with frequent departures daily. More information and timetables available at the web address below.

How do I get to Yamadasan Lodge from the closest train station?
As a part of your room charge Yamadasan will pick you up from Iiyama station and deliver you to the Lodge we ask that you prearrange your pick-up times in advance and confirm them once you’re on the “Shinkansen” Bullet Train.
Does Yamadasan have a restaurant and bar in house?
Yamadasan Ski Lodge has its own restaurant and Bar open daily serving a mostly western menu.

Every afternoon Yamadasan hosts Apres ski and happy hour in the restaurant and bar with complimentary hors-d’oeuvres featuring a selection of themed menus from 4.30pm until 5.30pm with happy hour from 4pm until 6pm daily. Check with reception to make sure you don’t miss out on sushi and sake Apres ski and other featured specials. we encourage our guest to come down to the bar and mingle over some great food and drink.
What’s for dinner?
Yamadasan dinner menu has a selection of your favorite western cuisine options and features nightly specials and our homemade soups are a great way to start off your meal. The menu also caters to our younger guests with a small selection of kid friendly options. The Chef will accommodate any dietary or food allergy requirements we ask you please notify us before arrival so we can ensure we can meet your needs.
Our fully stocked bar is available from 3pm until 9pm and boasts a selection of Japanese whiskies and local sake as well as a number of Japanese beers and a hot toddies menu to warm you up.
Although we accept all major credit cards and Yen at point of purchase we also offer our guest an in-house charge account option secured with a credit card at check in this allows you to charge food and drink back to your room account and settle when you check out. Please note Madarao Mountain does not have an ATM/cash machine the closest machine is in Iiyama City approximately 30-minute drive away we suggest you plan accordingly.
I have allergies. Can you cater for my dietary requirements?
The Chef will accommodate any dietary or food allergy requirements we ask you please notify us before arrival so we can ensure we can meet your needs.
Is breakfast included in the rate?
Our inclusive breakfast sets you up for a big day with two sittings, 7am for those wanting to hit the powder when the lifts open and the 2nd at 8am for those wanting to start out a little slower. Breakfast is western-style and includes a continental buffet with a choice of cereals, toast, breads, jams, spreads, fruit, milk and fresh juices. Each morning our in-house Chef will prepare to order your hot breakfast on a rotating menu including all your favorites Bacon eggs, Pancakes and Bacon, Omelets to name a few. There is self-service coffee and tea available from 6:45am until 9pm. We also offer an espresso coffee machine and cafe service from 7am until 6pm.

Is your lodge child-friendly?
Here at Yamadasan we are child and family friendly and have a cot and a baby seat available for use at no extra charge. The restaurant also caters to our younger guests with a small selection of kid friendly options.

I have been wearing the same socks for five days. Do you have a laundry facility?
Laundry facilities are available upon request and are self-serve. Please ask at reception for availability of machines.
International mobile service. Will my Australian phone work with you?
Your Australian mobile phone will only work in Japan if you have contacted your service provider and make arrangements to activate international roaming.
Japan has very good free Wi-Fi in most locations and utilizing Facebook Messenger or other such apps facetime and phone call functions you can communicate and keep up with family and friends
Do I need a power adapter?
Japan runs on 110 volts this means if your country runs on different voltage none of your devices or electrical products will work without an adaptor/transformer. You can purchase them in travel and luggage shops both in your home country as well as Japan.
My wife says I’m a terrible skier. Would you suggest travel insurance?
Yamadasan highly recommends all our guest acquire travel insurance. Australian health insurance policies and Medicare won’t cover you in other countries should you experience a medical event that requires hospitalization or attention at a local medical centre.
Travel Insurance can also cover things like dental cover, flight cancelation and ticket changes, replacement of lost or stolen luggage and personal liability.
Don’t risk it. Get it before you hit the slopes.
