A modern love story. One visit. And “the boys” were smitten.
YAMADASAN is a ski accommodation management company based in Madarao, Japan. We are owned by AUSTPAN Pty Ltd – a 100% Australian owned company connecting cultures through hospitality and tourism.
The YAMADASAN/AUSTPAN family is an eclectic mix of successful Sydney-based tradies and an international hospitality professional who all love to snowboard & ski. After one Christmas visit to Japan celebrating with friends in the charming village of Madarao “the boys” in the family were smitten. Love for Japan, its culture and beautiful snow country began to blossom.
Entrepreneurial energies went into overdrive. “The boys” were fixed on the idea of becoming a part of the exciting tourism growth already evident in Madarao. It would mean not only an industrious business undertaking but a once in a lifetime opportunity to have a ski holiday home for themselves, their family and friends.
A quick tour around town showed potential tourism real estate for sale. With years of tradie know-how and (even) an ex-ski instructor amongst them, the decision to invest was made swiftly.
The YAMADASAN story begins…
The name “Yamadasan” (Yamada-san) holds within a proud tradition of exceptional hospitality provided by Mr & Mrs Yamada – the original owners of our first lodge accommodation procured at beautiful Madarao.
In honour of their legacy and devotion to Madarao tourism, we continue to host in the same authentic style as they have done. Our aim is to always delight and surprise guests with warm hospitality in comfortable lodge-style accommodation.

Hiroshi & Yuki Yamada (left with Madarao real estate agent) – Original owners of the Yamadasan Ski Lodge @ Madarao (previously known as Bergland Lodge) with “The Boys”.
As Hiroshi and Yuki have proven time and again, service can indeed be five stars (and counting) without the silver trimmings.
Our doors and hearts are now open. More properties and tourism ventures coming online soon. We look forward to welcoming you into the growing YAMADASAN family.
